Zhongshan Talents Park locates in the new urban core of Shiqi District, Zhongshan. Along the Qijiang River, a significant waterbird preservation corridor in Great Bay Area, the 55-acre waterfront is planned to be the future economic and ecological center of Zhongshan City. Our priority is to create a co-living place for humans and birds to share without interrupting each other. Constructed wetlands, island chains, forest conservation zone, and other topography changes are essential tools to cover the birds’ needs for shelter at different stages of their lives. A 100% rainwater management system is also implemented to mitigate urban environmental impacts furthermore. The park will provide public spaces for visitors to share a wonderful time with waterbirds in urban areas.

As the eco core of the future urban center, the park provides gathering and activity spaces for the public. Surrounding communities are encouraged to participate in the maintenance of the wetlands, especially children. Playgrounds, sand pits, and sliders invite them to come closer to nature, guiding them to appreciate the beauty of wildlife and the natural environment. The sponge city strategy used in the design sets a paradigm for relevant municipal projects in Zhongshan. It educates not only citizens but our clients on the importance of resilient design and will lead other projects to incorporate resiliency strategies into their designs. As a result, the park will become a recreational and educational destination for citizens to share a wonderful time with waterbirds in the future urban center.

The park is currently open.

Concept Design of Bridge Across Maolong Waterway in Cuiheng New District

Muse Design Awards Gold Winner | Global Future Design Awards Gold Winner

Cuiheng New District is located on the west bank of the Pearl River Estuary. It is an important wharf connecting the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Passage and promoting innovation and integration on both sides of the Pearl River. It carries the imagination of Zhongshan's culture and innovative development. The design of Cuiheng New District Cross-Maolong Waterway Bridge will coincide with the development orientation of the new district, fully integrate with the urban environment, and create the urban axis of Maolong Waterway and the spatial landscape system and cruise ship system of "one bridge and one scene".

In the old Lingnan water town, farming, fishing and hunting were based on boats. The sea has changed into mulberry fields, and the modern Zhongshan waterways are full of bridges and buildings. Traditional and emerging industries go hand in hand. The six bridges of Maolong Waterway will serve as the development link of Cuiheng New District, linking the urban open space. The urban arterial road and the ring road connect the two leaves, and set up a deep-middle passageway to enter the household road network; The bridges and roads are connected to form very different space nodes of the water city.

Our proposal adopts a variety of bridge structures, including arch bridges, cable-stayed bridges and bridges with space cable planes, to reflect the diversity of bridges and cities, and to activate urban life. The three parts of the city blend and dance together, jointly inherit the Danjia culture, and carry the new needs of Cuiheng. Six uniquely designed bridges will serve as the lifeline of the Cuiheng New District, portraying a beautiful picture of the city's open spaces. The Bridge of Dawn, the Bridge of Matin, the Bridge of Glare, the Bridge of Shine, the Bridge of Afterglow and the Bridge of Dusk, these six bridges take a day's passing as the background to outline the preclude of a splendid life in Qijiang River.
